Embolo’s brilliance up top pushed Mönchengladbach back ahead of the Bundesliga table. His hard work on both sides of the field gave his side the 4-2 victory, keeping them on top of the Bundesliga.
Thuram got the scoring started in the third minute, giving him his team-leading sixth goal of the season. Schmid responded for Freiburg with a tough free kick from close range that beat Sommer to keep things dead-locked until halftime. Embolo put his scoring skills on display, playing a part in all thee second half Galdbach goals, scoring two of them. Even though a penalty kick of his did not go through, all was forgiven thanks to his brace and all three points staying in Galdbach.
The Foals are top of the table with 28 points, one point ahead of RB Leipzig. Freiburg went to sixth place after Sunday evening’s match.
