It may have been Black Friday, but the points were not available at a discount. Schalke needed nearly the full 90 minutes to shake off Union Berlin to take all three points on the table.
Schalke were the clear favorites, taking much of the chances in both halves. The East Berlin side kept the Royal Blues off the board until Raman smoked a shot into the net in the 23rd minute. Union drew level just over ten minutes later, as Andrich drew contact just inside the penalty area, giving Union their fifth penalty on the year. Ingvartsen buried the penalty a few moments later. Schalke kept the tempo and possession for the second half, and Serdar finished off the Berlin side with a curling far post shot that beat the Union keeper for the 2-1 victory.
