The Foals have been on top of the league for the past two weeks, a position usually occupied by FC Bayern or the other Borussia. Mönchengladbach brought the pressure early and often against Eintracht Frankfurt, winning 4-2 on Sunday night to keep the top spot for a third straight week.
Gladbach put two goals in on both sides of the half time break. Embolo found a wide-open Thuram in front of net for the easiest goal of the night. Wendt added to it when he streaked into the box with a full head of steam and buried Thuram’s feed. The two sides would go back and forth in the second half, with da Costa getting on the scoresheet for Frankfurt, then Elvedi for Gladbach, then Hinteregger to bring Frankfurt within one goal with ten minutes left. However, Zakaria finished the visiting Eagles off with his goal n the 85th minute, putting the Foals back on top of the league.
