Fortuna Düsseldorf pushed their way past basement-dwellers 1. FC Nürnberg on MatchDay 23, but it took everything they had to get the 2-1 victory.
The Bavarians were down to 10 men after Matheus Pereira was too rough with his opponent just four minutes into the match. Düsseldorf threw everything they had at the net but it wasn’t enough to beat their keeper in the first 45minutes. Edward Löwen struck just before the half ended to give Der Club a shocking lead going into the break. But Düssedorf managed to fight back in the second half. After insanity in front of the goal, Mathenia was beaten by a deflection off of one of his own men, then Kaan Ayhan put the game away just seven minutes from full time.
