The summer transfers of Douglas Costa to Bayern Munich and Javier Hernandez to Bayer Leverkusen have had huge impacts in the league. The Final Day of the Transfer Window
-Bayern Munich bring in former German international Serdar Tasci from Spartak Moscow on loan for the remainder of the season. The central defender played in almost 250 matches for Stuttgart beginning in 2006, but has spent the last 3 seasons with Spartak. He has 14 caps for Germany.
-Eintracht Frankfurt picked up two players from Hertha Berlin to help them solidify a spot in the mid-table and perhaps even challenge for a Europa League spot. Änis Ben-Hatira, 27, comes to Die Adler for the remaining of the season. The Tunisian midfielder played for Hamburg and MSV Duisburg before joining Hertha in 2011. Joining Frankfurt on a permanent basis is 20 year-old defender Yanni Regäsel. The 5’11” Berlin native featured in a half dozen matches for BSC’s senior side.
-Swiss international Josip Drmic heads to HSV for the remainder of the season. Signed by Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer, Drmic has gotten playing time with Die Fohlen but has only scored once. The red-shorts also picked up defender Nabil Bahoui, a Swede with eight caps, on loan from Al-Ahli.
-SV Werder Bremen has signed Spurs’ youngster Milos Vejlkovic to a three and a half-year contract. A member of Serbia’s U-20 World Cup champions, the 20 year-old central defender has played on loan at Middlesbrough and Charlton, but was seen as surplus at White Hart Lane given the club’s depth at his position.
-Australian winger Robbie Kruse returns to Bayer Leverkusen after an unproductive loan spell at Stuttgart. The pacy 27 year-old has featured in almost 90 matches in Germany after playing in his home country for the Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar. Stuttgart, meanwhile, have picked up Italian defender Federico Barba, 22, on loan from Empoli, with an option to buy.
-FC Augsburg have brought in attacking help in the form of loanee Iceland international Alfred Finnbogason, 27. Along with 30 international caps, the striker has played for Real Sociedad, Olympiacos, Heerenveen and Helsingborg among others. Moving the other way is FCA striker Tim Matavž. The 27 year-old, who has featured in 34 FCA matches, heads to Italy to play on loan with Genoa.
-Promising teenage Schalke striker Felix Platte will play the remainder of the season at SV Darmstadt 98. A product of S04’s esteemed youth system, Platte has made four appearances for the senior side.
-Mainz man Maximilian Biester heads to 1860 Munich on loan for the remainder of the season, while his teammate Niki Zimling will play for FSV Frankfurt. FC Augsburg’s Nicola Djurdjic, just returned from loan to Malmo, heads to Fortuna Düsseldorf. Tomas Pekhart of FC Ingolstadt will now be playing for AEK Athens.
Veteran winger Adam Hlousek, 26, says goodbye to VfB Stuttgart as he heads to Legia Warsaw. The Czech featured in 28 games for the Swabians, and also played for 1.FC Kauserslautern and 1.FC Nürnberg in the past, as well as Sparta Prague.
Earlier it was announced that Werder Bremen defender Assani Lukimya had signed with Chinese side Liaoning FC. The 30 year-old had been with Bremen since 2012 ;and featured in 78 matches. Beginning with Hertha Berlin’s reserve side in 2004, the Congolese had also played with Hansa Rostock, Carl Zeiss Jena and Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Mainz Make Two Roster Moves
Mainz have made two roster changes, bringing in Danish U-21 Emil Berggreen on a permanent deal from Eintracht Braunschweig through June, 2019 while loaning out 25 year-old Florian Niederlechner to SC Freiburg for 18 months, with the Breisgau-Brazilians holding an option to purchase his contract.
Berggreen,22, featured in 26 matches and scored 10 goals for 2nd division side Braunschweig since joining the the Lions a year ago. The 6’4″ striker had played in Denmark for Hobro IK and Brønshøj BK, as well as earning five caps for the Danes’ U-21 squad.
“Emil Berggreen is the sort of guy we’re typically after. He’s young but has a lot of experience already. He’s done well in the second-division and we believe he has the skills necessary to be a success in the top flight,” remarked Mainz’ Christian Heidel.
Niederlechner joined Mainz in 2015 after a strong season at 1.FC Heidenheim, where he scored 27 times in 79 times for the Baden-Württemberg club, and also had success at SpVgg Unterhaching. The striker, however, has not transitioned well to first-tier football and may regain his confidence with Christian Streich at Freiburg. SCF Sporting Director Jochen Saier mentioned Neiderlechner’s dynamic style of play as a reason for obtaining Neiderlechner, with whom they had talks in the summer.
Wolfsburg Sign Brazilian Bruno Henrique
VfL Wolfsburg announced Friday the signing of Brazilian striker Bruno Henrique Pinto to a contract running through June, 2020. The transfer fee for the player from Brazilian side Goiás was not disclosed.
Henrique, 25, had scored seven goals, with 10 assists, last season for the Esmeraldino in 2015, helping them to the Campeonato Goiano, the ten team league based in the state of Goiás. He came up in the Cruziero youth system, and has played for Brazilian sides Uberlândia and Itumbiara in the past.

Carlos Gruezo, 20 year-old midfielder for VfB Stuttgart, has left Germany to join MLS side FC Dallas. Gruezo is a native of Santo Domingo, Ecuador, and came up in the youth sides of several Ecuadoran clubs before featuring for Barcelona SC beginning in 2012. The 5’7″ youngster eventually trialed with Stuttgart and signed with the club in January, 2014, featuring in 18 matches but eventually losing his spot in the club’s starting lineup.
Mainz Picks Up Giulio Donati from Leverkusen
Mainz have signed Bayer Leverkusen defender to a contract that runs until June, 2019. Yje 25 year-old started 10 matches for Leverkusen this season in Bundesliga play.
Donati came up in the Inter Milan youth system, but never played for the senior side. Instead, he played on loan with Italian clubs Lecce, Padova and Grosseto before joining Leverkusen in June, 2013 for a 3 million euro transfer fee.
HSV Loan Stieber to Der Club
Hamburger SV have loaned veteran Zoltan Stieber to 1. FC Nürnberg for the remainder of the season. The 27 year-old attacking mid/winger has earned 20 caps for Hungary, while in club football wearing the shirt of Aston Villa, Alemannia Aachen, Yeovil Town, TuS Koblenz, Mainz and Greuther Fürth in a professional career that begin in 2007.
More Werder Bremen News..Club Signs Hungarian László Kleinheisler
Although they couldn’t lasso Jordan Morris’ signature onto a Werder Bremen contract, the club was successful in signing the other 21 year-old international trialing with the club, Hungarian László Kleinheisler, who signed a deal until June, 2019.
Kleinheisler, a 5’7″ midfielder, comes to north Germany from Hungarian club Videoton, where he played in 42 matches and also played for Puskás, the club’s youth team. Sporting Director Rouven Shroder explained

Morris Rejects Werder Bremen Move and More
American attacker Jordan Morris has rejected a bid from Werder Bremen after trialing with the club recently, and will apparently play in the U.S. with the Seattle Sounders, his hometown club. Bremen CEO Thomas Eichen does not rule out a future relationship with Morris, however.
In other news at the north German club, striker Lennart Thy will join the club this summer after signing a three-year deal from St. Pauli. And Chelsea defender Papy Djilobodji is a current loan target for Bremen, with the club paying 400,000 euros if they can persuade Chelsea to loan the Senegalese international who is currently surplus to requirements for the London club. Andrej Kramaric Loaned to Hoffenheim
TSG Hoffenheim have obtained Andrej Kramaric from Leicester City on loan. The Croatian forward. The 24 year-old Croatian striker will be at Hoffenheim for the remainder of the season.
Kramaric has had difficulty finding playing time on Claudio Ranieri’s club.making only five appearances so far this season for the Foxes’ senior side but scoring a goal in League Cup play. He has four goals for Leicester City in his career, but 55 for Croatian side HNK Rijeka and 11 more while at Dinamo Zagreb. Valued at 8 million pounds by TransferMarkt, it is hoped that Kramaric can breathe life into Hoffenheim’s moribund attack in 2016.
Wolfsburg Defender Timm Klose Heads to England
The trend of English clubs buying Bundesliga players continues as VfL Wolfsburg defender Timm Klose has signed a 3 and 1/2 deal with Norwich City. The transfer fee was not disclose.
Klose, 27, was born in Frankfurt but grew up in Basel and represents Switzerland internationally. He began playing professionally for FC Thun in 2009 before transferring to 1.FC Nürnberg. Klose joined Wolfsburg in 2013 and played in eight Bundesliga matches this season for the Wolves. The Canaries’ statement

Hugo Almeida Joins Hannover
Former Bundesliga striker Hugo Almeida has signed with Hannover 96, re-uniting him with 96er Coach Thomas Schaaf. Almeida is believed to inked a deal through next season and looks to find the Bundesliga form that flourished under Schaaf at Werder Bremen, where the Portuguese forward scored 31 goals in 3 1/2 seasons.
Born in Figueira da Foz, Almeida played in the youth systems of Naval and Porto. The 31 year-old made his Porto debut in September, 2003 against Benfica, but was loaned out several times during his Porto stay, including loan stints with Werder Bremen. The north-German club inked the striker in August. 2007. Almeida joined Beşiktaş during the 2010/2011 winter break, scoring 37 goals in Turkish league play. Almeida has since played in Italy and Russia.
The man from Portugal brings extensive European experience in his return to Germany, and has been capped 57 times by Portugal. Schaaf stated that “As we’ve seen, we lack ruthlessness in our attack. Hugo will improve the way we play. He’s a compact, powerful striker who’s always pressing toward goal.”
As far as Almeida is concerned, a move back to Germany is a no-brainer

Schalke Add Young Alessandro Schöpf
Gearing up for a run in the Europa League and a Champions League berth finish in the Bundesliga, FC Schalke 04 hav acquried the services of Austrian midfielder Schöpf from 1. FC Nürnberg of Germany’s second division. The 21 year-old signed a contract until 2019 with the Royal Blues.
Schöpf came up in the Bayern Munich youth system, and played 63 matches for FCB’s reserve side between 2012 and 2014, scoring 22 times in Regionalliga action. He was signed by Der Club in July, 2014. FC Bayern Prospect Sinan Kurt Moves to Hertha BSC
After 1.5 years at Bayern München, former Borussia Mönchengladbach youth product and current Germany U19 Sinan Kurt has made a winter move to the German capital to join current third-place side Hertha BSC.
The clubs involved have agreed to not disclose details on the deal, but Kicker reports that the purchase of Kurt includes a buy-back option for Bayern. According to the German publication’s report, the option could be taken only once, during the summer of 2018, which would also be the summer before the final year of the 3 1/2-year deal Kurt signed with his new club.
The 19-year-old winger has just 44 minutes of Bundesliga time to his credit. Coincidentally, his single appearance came against his new team last April, when he entered as a halftime substitute for Gianluca Gaudino.
Younès Belhanda Joins Schalke in Florida
Attacking midfielder Younès Belhanda has been loaned to FC Schalke 04 from Dynamo Kyiv for the remainder of the season and has already arrived in Orlando to join the club’s training camp. The former Ligue 1 champion with Montpellier has also represented Morocco 32 times on the international stage.

The midfielder has enjoyed Europa League experience with both clubs.
“I’ve often dreamt about playing in the Bundesliga,” Belhanda told the club’s official website. “I know Schalke already from when I was at Montpellier – I played against them in the Champions League. It’s a big club and Schalke has a great history, a big stadium and fantastic fans.”
Kevin Großkreutz to Stuttgart Official
Kevin Großkreutz has gotten his wish and will be doing in his footballing in Stuttgart after his summer transfer to Galatasaray turned into a nightmare for the former Dortmund champion. Großkreutz has signed with the Swabians until 2018 for 2.17 million euros.

Timo Horn Dismisses Liverpool Rumors
Following a Wednesday morning training session, 1. FC Köln number one and German youth international Timo Horn took a moment to address the continued chatter regarding his being coveted by Jürgen Klopp as a potential winter replacement for Liverpool’s current goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
“I read such things only in the media,” explains Horn. “Jürgen Klopp has already said everything there is to say about it. There is no concrete offer, and I don’t concern myself with such matters. I am an FC player and concentrate fully on my work here.”
Mainz Recruit Karim Onisiwo from Austria
1.FSV Mainz 05 have signed Austrian forward Karim Onisiwo, 23, to a three-year deal. Oniswo joins Mainz from SV Mattersburg, where he’s played the last 18 months. Prior to joining Mattersburg, Oniswo played for SV Austria Salzburg, and he’s totalled 53 goals in Austrian professional football since 2010.
Mainz Director Christian Heidel says that “We have closely watched Onisiwos’ development for some time He is our next exciting project, a young, hungry player to develop into a good Bundesliga player. We see potential in him.”
Onisiwo has one cap for Austria’s senior squad.
Filip Mladenović Signed by 1.FC Köln
As rumored earlier, left back Filip Mladenović has signed a 3 and 1/2 year deal with 1.FC Köln. He transfers from Belarusian side BATE Borisov, the club he joined in February, 2014.
The 24 year-old was born in Yugoslavia and has one cap for the Serbian senior national side. He began his professional career with Serb club Borac Čačak in 2010 before signing with Red Star Belgrade in December, 2011. Kevin Großkreutz to Stuttgart?
Reports are circulating that longtime Borussia Dortmund man Kevin Großkreutz will soon be returning to the Bundesliga with VfB Stuttgart. The versatile Großkreutz, who featured in 300 matches with his hometown BvB club under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp, was considered surplus to requirements by new coach Thomas Tuchel this summer. Großkreutz thus signed a deal with Turkish side Galatasaray, but his adventure in turkey has turned into an ordeal and he’s made public his desire to leave the iconic Turkish club.
Nikola Đurđić Returns to Augsburg
Serbian striker Nikola Đurđić has returned to FC Augsburg following the conclusion of his six-month loan to Swedish side Malmö FF. While in Sweden, Đurđić scored eight goals and gained Champions League experience, With FCA striker Sascha Mölders having left the club on loan to 1860 Munich, Đurđić will have opportunity to find minutes behind starter Raul Bobadilla. Đurđić, 29, has played professionally in Serbia and Norway and also in Germany for SpVgg Greuther Fürth, where he scored nine times in 30 appearances.
Adam Szalai Headed to Hannover
According to kicker, only the final signature is needed as Hoffenheim striker is headed to Hannover for a loan spell from Hoffenheim, with Hannover receiving an option to buy clause in the deal. Szalai will reportedly begin training with the 96ers immediately.
The 28 year-old Szalai not only moves up a place in the standings with the loan, but will be looking for an opportunity to play after spending barely 100 minutes on the pitch at Hoffenheim during the Hinrunde, especially important to the Hungarian international with Hungary qualifying for the Euros this summer. Szalai has 32 goals in Bundesliga play, but 20 of those were with Mainz between 2010-2013. A move to Schalke never saw the 6’4″ striker get untracked, and the 2014 move to Hoffenheim saw Szalai stuck behind Kevin Volland and other Hoffenheim attackers. Schalke Loan Kaan Ayhan to Eintracht Frankfurt
Schalke have made a loan deal with Eintracht Frankfurt, sending young defender Kaan Ayhan to Die Adler for the remainder of the season, with Frankfurt having the option to buy Ayhan’s contract in June. A native of Gelsenkirchen, Ayhan made his debut with his hometown club in October, 2013, and has made 30 league appearances for the Royal Blues, but only one under new Coach Andre Breitenreiter. Frankfurt’s Bruno Hübner stated that, with the Ayhan loan deal, the club’s winter dealings are now completed as they’d already added Mexican striker Marco Fabián and former Hannover man Szabolcs Huszti
Ayhan, a 6-footer, can play in central midfield as well as in central defence or as a right fullback. He has represented both Germany and Turkey at the international youth level, but has yet to make a senior appearance for either side. Ayhan turned 21 in October.
Wolfsburg interested in Belgian talent Dante Vanzeir
The fact that Wolfsburg have been looking for a new striker to strengthen their squad is well and now they may have found their new man in Dante Vanezeig according to voetbalnieuws.be. The 17-year-old hasn’t been capped for KRC Gent’s first team, yet, but has a wealth of experience for Belgium’s U-17, 16 and 15 youth side. Tottenham and Inter are also keen on signing the youngster according to the report.
Schalke distance selves from Brazil midfielder Renato Augusto
It has long been rumoured that former Bayer Leverkusen Renato Augusto was on his way back to the Bundesliga. The Corinthians player has told the press that he wants to get back to Europe and that Germany would be his first choice. Today Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt told Bild that he won’t sign the player, because of the wages the Brazilian’s agent demanded.
HSV – Olic more likely to stay, Stieber on the move?
Hamburg paper MoPo report that Ivica Olic hasn’t received any offers that have satisfied his demands. So far he’s been in talks with Central Cost Mariners from Australia, but the offer on the table didn’t cause the 36-year-old striker to consider a move away from the Red Shorts. Given Pierre Michel Lasogga’s somewhat dire injury history HSV aren’t willing to sell the striker at any price and sporting director Peter Knäbel told the paper that Olic is going to get a chance to compete in more Bundesliga fixtures after the winter break provided that he’ll stay.
However, HSV are currently looking to offload Hungarian international Zoltan Stieber as the club is looking to free some funds for possible winter signings. So far this season the 27-year-old has only featured in two matches playing a grand total of 5 minutes of Bundesliga football.

VfB Stuttgart Secures Artem Kravets Loan
VfB Stuttgart recently made interim trainer Jurgen Kramny a permanent hire after leading the club out of the Bundesliga basement. Now Kramny has a new striker to help as VfB have brought in Dynamo Kyiv striker Artem Kravets, 25, for the remainder of the season.
Born in the Soviet Union, Kravets has represented the Ukraine senior squad on 25 occasions after featuring in Ukraine junior squads beginning in 2006. He has featured in 80 matches for Dynamo, scoring 30 goals and has 22 games of European experience. Kravets helped Dynamo win the Ukrainian Premier League title last season, scoring seven times in 12 league matches, but has often been sidelined with injury in his career. Sascha Mölders Loaned to 1860 Munich
Longtime FC Augsburg forward Sascha Mölders is headed to Bundesliga 2 side 1860 Munich on a loan deal. Mölders, 30, has been with FCA since 2011 and was a key figure in keeping the club in Germany’s top division in the first years after it won promotion following the 2010/2011 season by scoring 18 times in first division play.
A native of Essen, Mölders played for MSV Duisburg, RW Essen and FSV Frankfurt before joining Augsburg. Hopefully the veteran striker can help 1860, who after flirting with relegation last season are currently in the relegation zone again despite a nice little run in the DFB Pokal.
Jonas Hofmann Joins Borussia Mönchengladbach
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jonas Hofmann has transferred to Gladbach on a five-year deal for a transfer fee believed to be in the 8 million euro range. Hofmann, 23, should replenish a Gladbach midfield currently missing Patrick Herrmann and Andre Hahn due to injuiry. More on Hofmann here
Hannover Bring in Fossum and Yamaguchi
Beleagured Hannover 96 hope to improve in 2016 by bringing in Norwegian midfielder Iver Fossum along with Japanese veteran Hotaru Yamaguchi. Fossum, 19, signed a four and a half-year contract with the 96ers while the 25 year-old Yamaguchi joins Hannover from the Cerezo Osaka side that produced Shinji Kagawa and Hannover teammate Hiroshi Kiyotake. Marco Fabián to Eintracht Frankfurt
Eintracht Frankfurt obtained the 26 year-old Chivas de Guadalajara attacker for a reported a reported four million euro transfer fee, signing him to a three-year contract. Fabián has scored 49 goals in 194 Chivas appearances since 2007 and played a year on loan to Liga MX side Cruz Azul, as well as representing El Tri over 20 times.
