Schalke player Raul pens a lucrative one year deal, and shocking news from Volkswagen city.
Raul has signed a one year deal at Qatarian side Al Sadd according to kicker. The Spaniard was a vital part of the Schalke team for the last two seasons, scoring 28 goals in 66 appearances, prior to his move to the winners of the Asian Champions League. On today’s press conference in Doha, Raul stated:
I felt the seriousness of the officials, and my wife’s good impression of Doha after visiting it a month ago made me accept the offer.
Raul leaves Schalke on a free transfer, because his contract expires at the end of the season.
Mario Mandzukic likely to leave Wolfsburg
The Croats adviser Ivan Cvjetovic told kicker:
Felix Magath has told us that Mario’s contract won’t be extended, and that he can leave the club for a reasonable transfer fee.
Mandzukic’s likely departure comes as a big surprise. The Croatian international is Wolfsburg’s top scorer in the 2011/12 season, scoring 12 goals and creating 10 assists.
Podolski and Höwedes with minor injury worries
Both Lukas Podolski and Benedikt Höwedes had to sit out Sunday’s training session of the national team’s training camp in Andrea Corda. Hansi Flick informed kicker that both Podolski and Höwedes are likely to return on Monday.

Lucien Favre and Borussia Mönchengladbach have to replace defender Dante, midfielder Roman Neustädter and Marco Reus in the summer transfer window. Lucien Favre has conditioned his future at the club on the quality of the signings brought in by Max Eberl according to Bild am Sonntag. Favre wants to sign Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Basel midfielder Granit Xhaka and Twente striker Luuk de Jong according to Bild am Sonntag. These three signings would cost combined total of ca. 20 million euros.
