Are you getting excited for Florida Cup 2015 yet? We sure are.
In case you missed our earlier coverage of the original announcement, 1. FC Köln and Bayer Leverkusen are
bringing their training camp preparations to the United States this month, part of which is participation in a four-team tournament in which the two Bundesliga sides will face each of two Brazilian clubs: Sport Club Corinthians Paulista (popularly known as simply “Corinthians”) and Fluminese FC.
The fixtures for the four matches have been set. Leverkusen will Fluminese at 5:00 p.m. local time at the Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, just south of Orlando. Köln and Corinthians will face-off at 7:30 on the same pitch.
The action moves to Jacksonville’s Everbank Statdium, home of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, Saturday afternoon, with Leverkusen again getting things started in their meeting with Corinthians set for 1:00 p.m. Köln and Fluminese will close the Florida Cup with a match set for 3:30.
The competition has been billed as a battle of nations, which puts rival clubs Leverkusen and Köln in the unfamiliar position of working in tandem to compile more collective points than their Brazilian counterparts to determine which nation will claim primacy in the Sunshine State.
Tickets for the Thursday matches are general admission and set at $40.65. Sunday’s round in Jacksonville offers a range of ticket prices from $25 to $170.
