The Billy Goats have done it again. After falling into the relegation zone, the boys from Cologne managed to finish the year with three straight wins, defeating Werder Bremen 1-0.
It was clear from the onset that both sides were at the bottom of the table. Wasted passes, lack of communication… it was all on display. Cologne tried a quick strike, and caught Bremen napping just before halftime. Dominick Drexler brought down a long ball from midfield and found a wide-open Jhon Cordoba to tap in the lone goal of the match.
Cologne would not find the magic in the final third again, trying cross after cross that fizzled into nothing. Bremen put the pressure up top for the last ten minutes, trying to salvage something out of the long trip, but the Billy Goats goalkeeper, Timo Horn, put a stop to that, keeping all of the points in Cologne and leaving Bremen fans with many questions to ponder over the winter break, as the green-whites continue to disappoint.
