We went there: Bayern back on top with Düsseldorf thumping

Following Dortmund’s tough win yesterday, Bayern woke up in second in the Bundesliga. The Bavarians were back on top before dinner, defeating Fortuna Düsseldorf 4-1 on the road.

Kingsley Coman provided all the scoring that Bayern would need in the first half. His first goal 15 minutes in was nearly deflected in by a wide-open Thomas Müller, leaving Düsseldorf keeper Michael Rensing with no chance to stop it. Coman flicked in a close-range effort to give Bayern an extra cushion with four minutes to go before halftime.

Gnabry and Goretzka added to the scoreline after the break to give the Bavarians an easy victory, even with a Lukebakio penalty for Düsseldorf. But there were some concerns from Bayern as keeper and captain Manuel Neuer had to come off in the 53rd minute with an injury. Bayern coach Niko Kovac said he would be looked at further once the team returned to Munich.
