Borussia Dortmund looked shaky earlier in the English Week, losing for the first time all season to Fortuna Düsseldorf. But Dortmund bounced returned to their top form on Friday night with a 2-1 win over second-place Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Dortmund had the tempo and pressure up top but could not deliver until the 42nd minute. Jadon Sancho had a half-step on his man and slipped it in far post from a tough angle. Gladbach was not going to go down quietly, though. Dortmund could not handle a cross in the box in first-half stoppage time, and Christoph Kramer made them pay with a bullet from point blank range.
Dortmund kept their composure in the second half, and did not give Mönchengladbach any decent chances. Dortmund captain Marco Reus tapped home a brilliant pass from Mario Gotze to give Dortmund all three points at home.
