Arjen Robben Eyeing Bayern Munich Scoring Record

Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig do battle in the Bundesliga on Saturday aiming to strengthen their respective title hopes.

The match will be their second meeting in four days, following Wednesday’s DFB Cup clash in Leipzig, although the league game will undoubtedly be the priority for both sides.

Bayern took six points off Leipzig last term, including an amazing recovery away from home where they fought back from 4-2 down to win 5-4.

Last season’s fixture at the Allianz Arena was a more comfortable affair for Bayern, with goals by Thiago, Xabi Alonso and Robert Lewandowski sealing a 3-0 victory.

Bayern are priced at 21/2 for a repeat performance this weekend, but make sure you search for the best odds before wagering on the game.

Manager Jupp Heynckes will need to reshuffle his midfield after it was confirmed that star midfielder Thomas Muller has been ruled out for at least three weeks with a thigh injury.

Since taking over from Carlo Ancelotti the Bayern boss has overseen three successive victories without conceding a goal, and his team can be backed at 9/5 to win to nil on Saturday.

Arjen Robben has been a key figure under the veteran manager, playing every minute since Heynckes’ return to the dugout.

The winger has the chance to write his name in the Bayern history books as the club’s most prolific foreign scorer on Saturday – he currently shares the record of 92 Bundesliga goals with retired Brazilian striker Giovane Elber. Robben is priced at Evens to score at anytime during the game.

Leipzig will head into the fixture a point behind Borussia Dortmund and Bayern at the top of the table.

Their most likely threat will come from forward Timo Werner, who has scored five out of Leipzig’s 16 league goals this season.

Last term he became only the third player in Bundesliga history to hit 21 goals in a season and is a tempting 17/2 to score first against Bayern.

Leipzig have won five of their last six games in all competitions and are priced at 13/2 to emerge victorious on Saturday. The home side are heavily fancied at 4/11, with the draw on offer at 19/4.

The visitors’ best hopes of success will be to keep things tight and hope that Bayern have a rare off day in front of goal. A 1-0 away win is available at 35/1 and that price will appeal to punters who fancy Leipzig to pull off a surprise victory.

It’s difficult to see Bayern failing to pick up three points this weekend and the 37/40 on offer to be leading at half-time and full-time looks a solid wager.
