Shortly after the conclusion of third round of the DFB Pokal Wednesday evening, all eyes turned to German broadcaster ARD for Sportschau Club for a live broadcast of the quarterfinal draw.
Stefan Kuntz, current trainer of Germany’s U21 team, and pop star Mark Forster collaborated on the pulling of balls from a large bowl to determine the four fixtures of the next round of Germany’s cup competition.
The quarterfinal fixtures in the order they were drawn are:
Eintracht Frankfurt – Arminia Bielefeld
Sportfreunde Lotte – Borussia Dortmund
FC Bayern München – Schalke 04
Hamburger SV – Borussia Mönchengladbach
Sportfreunde Lotte retained rights to an automatic home match regardless of draw, though they were drawn into a home-team slot.
The four matches will take place on February 28 and March 1.
Video of the draw is available on ARD’s Mediathek for a limited time.
