Wanted: Your “Soccer Made in Germany” Stories!

Dear Bundesliga Fanatic Readers,

I am started a multi-phased project about the TV show Soccer Made in Germany that ran on American television from 1976 to 1988 on the Public Broadcasting System (PBS).

And I’m looking for your stories!

If you’re of a certain age and had TV growing up, you may have watched this program. Perhaps it was even your first exposure to the beautiful game.

The legendary Toby Charles hosted Soccer Made in Germany from 1976 to 1983, while the almost equally legendary Alan Fountain, who still calls Bundesliga matches, hosted the program from 1983 to 1988. Both callers are still remembered for their distinctive words.

For many Americans, Soccer Made in Germany was the only program showing any soccer on TV. Imagine those dark days, dear readers.

So if you grew up watching Soccer Made in Germany – even if only an occasional “episode” or two – tell me about it by sending an email to editor@bundesligafanatic.com and put “Soccer Made in Germany” in the subject line.

Tell me your stories. No matter how epic or trivial you think your memories are, I’m interested.

I can’t wait hear to from you!
