Liverpool Target Alonso Reunion

Liverpool FC are reportedly interested in re-signing Bayern Munich midfield maestro, Xabi Alonso.

The Spaniard, 33, left the Merseyside giants six years ago after making 143 appearances, scoring 15 goals. He sealed a move to Galacticos, Real Madrid, where he made 158 appearances, scoring 4 goals. The Tolosso born midfielder later moved on to Budesliga Champions Bayern Munich, to work under the stewardship of fellow countryman, Pep Guardiola. The former Real Sociedad youth graduate still however, confesses his love for the Reds.

It is understood his contract is up next summer so he is eligible to speak to interested parties regarding a move in January. Bayern aren’t willing to give the veteran a new contract and therefore he is ready to seek pastures new.

New Kop boss Klopp is said to be a big admirer of former fans favourite Alonso, who he tried to sign from Madrid whilst in charge of Dortmund in 2009, only for Alonso to join rivals Bayern instead. He is expected to bring him back to Merseyside on a free transfer.

Alonso is also attracting interest from clubs in Qatar and the MLS.
