The schedule for upcoming 2014/2015 Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga schedules were announced today by the DFB. First division play will begin on the weekend of Friday, August 22 with champions Bayern Munich and Pep Guardiola hosting VfL Wolfsburg. Promoted club 1.FC Köln will host Hamburger SV that weekend as the Billy Goats return to top division play, while fellow promoted side SC Paderborn 07 will host 1. FSV Mainz 05. On August 13 Bayern and Borussia Dortmund will meet at Signal Iduna Park to decide the DFB SuperCup. Bayern will travel to Schalke on MatchDay 2, and the Hiinrunde Ruhr Valley meeting between Dortmund and Schalke will be in Gelsenkirchen on MatchDay 6, the weekend of September 26.
Winterbreak will begin following action on the weekend of December 19, with top-flight play resuming January 30, 2015. The 34th and final matchday of the 2014/2015 season occurs on May 23, when all 18 clubs play on the same day.
The first round of the DFB Pokal, the Cup tournament featuring 64 German teams, will be played between August 15 and 18th.
Germany’s second division again starts at an earlier date, as kickoff for 2.Bundesliga begins on August 1, with Fortuna Düsseldorf hosting demoted Eintracht Braunschweig, who will hope for a quick bounceback to top division play. Second division play will break for winter after December 22, and will resume with MatchDay 20 on February 6-9.
