News: More Bundesliga Transfers

Transfers abound as the Bundesliga season inches closer to kickoff.  Wolfsburg have made their seventh summer signing, while Eintracht Frankfurt look to improve their squad following promotion back to Germany’s top-tier.  Fellow promoted club SpVgg Greuther  Fürth have added a Danish international while MSV Duisburg have brought in a veteran striker.  SC Freiburg, a club that experienced a fine turnaround last season when youth coach Christian Streich took over the reins of the senior squad, acquired a Spanish defender on loan.  Werder Bremen meanwhile look to acquire a young Chelsea talent on loan for the season to help with their attack while Hamburg have lost another player from last season.

Wolfburg Sign Brazilian Fagner

Felix Magath has added another new face to the burgeoning Wolfsburg roster, bringing in 23 year-old defender Fagner from Brazilian side Vasco de Gama.  Fagner had an earlier move to Europe with PSV Eindhoven in 2007/2008 that was largely unsuccessful  He signed a four-year deal for the Volkswagen city club for an undisclosed fee and according to Magath, is a right back “whose attacking qualities we can well use.”  Fagner also has experience in South America’s Copa de Libertadores.

In other Wolfsburg news, prodigal son Diego has already started camp on the wrong foot with Magath.  The Brazilian midfielder had a successful season on loan at Atletico Madrid last year, but Wolfsburg have found no buyers for the talented midfielder, leaving the possibility that he may play with the Wolfsburg reserve team.  Magath has demonstrated in the past that he has no problem demoting established Bundesliga players to the reserve squad when displeased, and has done so with Patrick Helmes and Mario Mandzukic at Wolfsburg as well as Jermaine Jones and others at Schalke.  Diego did get a 10 minute runout, though, in Wolfsburg’s friendly 2-1 loss to Bayern München in China Thursday.

Eintracht Frankfurt Signings

Eintracht Frankfurt are bringing Erwin Hoffer, Anderson Bamba and Vadim Demidov into the squad.  Hoffer, the former Rapid Vienna striker who was signed by Napoli in July, 2009 for 5 million euros, has spent most his time on loan in Germany.  Hoffer was on loan last season at Frankfurt, and has played a total of 54 league matches for the Eagles, and previously for the Red Devils of Kaiserslautern, scoring 14 goals.  Hoffer has also earned 28 caps for Austria with four goals in international competition.

Bamba, signed by Borussia Monchengladbach in July, 2010 only spent a season with the Foals before going on loan with Eintracht .  The 24 year-old Brazilian began his career with Flamengo, and was signed by Bayer Leverkusen four years ago.  He previously played on loan with VfL Osnabruck as well as Fortuna Düsseldorf.  Demidov, 25, is a Norwegian international.  Born in Riga, the central defender comes to Frankfurt from Real Sociedad, where he signed in January, 2011.  The 6’1″ Demidov began his professional career in Norway with Sandefjord in 2004, and has also played with Norwegian clubs Hønefoss and Rosenborg, where he won league titles in 2009 and 2010.  He has over 180 professional games under his belt, along with 15 caps for Norway, featuring frequently during Norway’s 2012 Euro qualifying campaign.

Fürth Acquire Danish International Mikkelsen

Greuther  Fürth have signed Tobias Mikkelsen, 25.  The 5’10” winger has scored 15 goals in 111 Danish league matches for Brøndby IF and his most recent club, F.C. Nordsjælland, where he was a Danish SuperLiga champion last season.  The Danish international has also represented his country’s senior side on six occasions since his international debut in November, 2011.  Mikkelsen is seen as a replacement for departed Canadian striker Olivier Occean.

Jovanovic Joins Duisburg

MSV Duisburg, looking for more attacking punch, have acquired veteran forward Ranisav Jovanovic on a free transfer.  The 31 year-old spent the last seasons at Fortuna Düsseldorf, where he scored 17 goals in 77 matches, including four goals last season.  Born in West Berlin, Jovanovic began his career with Tennis Borussia Berlin in 2001 and has also played for Dynamo Dresden, FSV Mainz 05 and Rot Weiss Ahlen.  The tall striker has scored 56 goals in 270 German matches.

SC Freiburg Acquire Ezequiel Calvente

The Black Forest side have obtained Ezequiel Calvente on loan for the season from Spanish side Real Betis, with the option to buy in the future.  Ezequiel, 21, is a 5’6″ left winger who has been with Betis youth sides since 2007.  The Spaniard has made 33 appearances for the Betis senior squad and also appeared 15 times earlier this year for 2nd division club CE Sabadell FC.

Werder Bremen Looking for DeBruyne Loan Deal

Werder Bremen are in the hunt to obtain 21 year-old Chelsea midfielder Kevin DeBruyne.  The Belgian international was acquired by the London club last year but continued on loan with KRC Genk, where he’s scored 17 goals in 92 contests.

According to Werder Sporting Director Klaus Allofs

We have already had a number of meetings with club and player in the past few months and we’re in advanced talks.Things are looking good, but it’s not a done deal yet. We hope to wrap up the transfer next week when Chelsea are back from their pre-season trip in the USA.”

Tore Leaves Hamburg

Gökhan Töre, one of the Chelsea youngsters brought to Hamburg by Frank Arnesen,has left the club to join Russian side Rubin Kazan. The 20 year-old Turkish international leaves Hamburg on a 6 million euro transfer, half of which goes to Chelsea.  Tore featured in 22 matches for Hamburg last season.  Hamburg veterans Mladen Petric and Paolo Guererro have also left the club this summer as the north German club looks to spend another season in transition.
