Listen up: The best quotes from Match Day 14

Here are a few choice nuggets from the players and coaches involved in the game talking to the press after their matches.

Torsten Fink about Jan Schlaudraff’s goal: ”That wasn’t a mistake by the defense. He was outside the 18 yard box. He should try that again and again 100 times, and I’ll tell you that he won’t manage to do that again.”

Uli Hoeness on Bayern’s biggest challengers for the championship: ”I have had the feeling, especially since yesterday, that Borussia Mönchengladbach could be a surprise team that could do well and stabilize themselves at the top. Just like Wolfsburg a few years ago.”

Huub Stevens about his team’s performance against Dortmund: ”Three or four of my players had a normal game. That is too few players against such a good team. In the first half I saw a team of grown ups play against a bunch of school boys.”

Holger Stanislawski about the late goal:”We were begging to concede that equalizer.”

Michael Rensing tells it like it is: ”We had no balls in our shorts! You can lose games, but you can’t lose like this!”

Marco Reus about breaking his toe:”I wanted to play on, because it was such a fantastic derby.”

Bremen has been called a one man team, because of Claudio Pizarro importance for the green and whites. Going into the match against Stuttgart Pizarro had been involved in 14 of the last 15 goals. Werder managed to win without the injured Pizarro, and Klaus Allofs addressed Werder’s critics:”If we had a team that wouldn’t work without Claudio Pizarro, we would have put together the team wrongly.”

Thomas Müller was bummed out after Bayern’s loss against Mainz:”Giving away the lead in the table is a low for us. It feels like a catastrophe.”
